Clinical Services & Care Coordination 
 
The Clinical Services Department provides screening, authorization and oversight for care, including review of consumer-centered plans and determination of the appropriate level and intensity of services. Our utilization review and management ensure that state service dollars are well spent and that each service provided is essential and appropriate.

ACCESS is Crossroads’ 24/7 call center where consumers can contact us to access mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services. Professionals answering the calls will initially ask screening questions to help determine your needs. The next step is to triage the urgency of your needs and refer you to the most appropriate services. Referrals are directed by urgency, availability of services conveniently located to you, specialty needs, your preferences and the payer source.

 
 

How To Obtain Services 
 

If you or a family member have a behavioral health problem and want to obtain information about behavioral health services in Iredell, Surry or Yadkin counties, contact Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare ACCESS at 1-888-235-4673 (HOPE)to discuss your needs and how to address them. Individuals with a hearing impairment may call 1-800-749-6099 TTY.
ACCESS is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

A qualified ACCESS professional will help determine whether you are eligible for behavioral health services, and if you are eligible will help you access services. You will be asked questions concerning any special needs you may have, such as for someone to provide American Sign Language, the need for a language interpreter, or the need for assistance with mobility issues.
ACCESS staff will refer you to a Crossroads’ provider based on your provider preference, if you have one, where you live, and your specific needs. For additional information regarding providers, please refer to the Provider List.

It is important to inform the ACCESS staff if you are experiencing a crisis.

Referral to a Provider
Following your screening and request for services, if you qualify for services, a Crossroads’ Clinical Services staff member will schedule an appointment for you with your choice of providers. There may be times when a provider will contact you to offer an appointment for an evaluation and assessment of your needs. If you have an emergent need, an appointment will be scheduled within 2 hours. If you have an urgent need, an appointment will be scheduled within 48 hours. If you do not need emergent or urgent services, a routine appointment will be scheduled, when available, within 14 calendar days from the date that you first requested services.
